Our success is based on a deep LOVE for animals and for providing the best vacation stays for all of our four-legged friends of all kinds. To ensure the safety of your pets and our other guests, we require that all guests adhere to the following Policies and Procedures for participation at Doggie Daycare, Boarding, and Training.
A Clean, Safe Environment: Our State-of-the-Art-Facility offers over 67,000 square feet of play space inside and out. Our Facility includes safety surveillance cameras and a superior Forced air conditioning and heat exchange system. In addition, we have an upscale radiant floor heating/cooling system so your pets comfort comes from the flooring they lay and play on. It stays a consistent 74 degrees warm in the cool months and a cool 72 degrees in the summer months. The gorgeous indoor amenities lead outside to an additional fenced, grass play arena. Two separate potty areas allow our friends to play in a different area where they poo & pee!
Do you want to give your dog a slumber party (Boarding)? Or maybe a fun filled playdate (Doggie Daycare)? Just let us know the dates and we will make the reservation for you! Your pet never has to fight for attention and always has the love and companionship they require, and quite frankly deserve! Our integrated, online processing software makes it easy to make your reservation, complete the pre-check-in, pay for packages, update pet or owner information, and even check on your pet during your time away.
Your pet has the option to join Doggie Daycare in our spacious indoor play arena where we never mix smaller breeds with larger breeds. We also separate our play groups by temperament and level of play activity. Your high activity racer will never have to slow down for old Aunt Sally, and Grandpa Sam won’t pestered by puppy Piper. Rest assured your pet is safe and well cared for during their playdate. If your pet is a little less social, they can still be active, and mentally stimulated by our staff with one-on-one play and affection throughout their stay for no extra charge.
We invite you to see our entire State-of-the-Art facility through the virtual tour found on our website at itsrainingcatsdogs.com Once there, you will find ALL the answers to ALL the questions you may have about our facility on the Boarding-Dogs-Info Page. More info can be found on the FAQs Page, as well. Questions about the 3 Boarding options we offer? You will find that on the Boarding-Dogs or Cats page. Pricing Questions? You will find that information there also. For those of you that are not computer savvy, you can find all our forms on the Policies & Procedures page, where you can download and print anything needed. You can also access our Client and Pet Portal at pamperedpetsilportal.gingrapp.com This portal is where EVERY client will be able to access information about your pet/s and your account. You will be able to do upload vaccines, medication and feeding information, make reservation requests for Boarding, sign-up for Doggie Daycare without having to wait for a reply, buy daycare packages, pay for services, get updates on your dog’s playday or stay, communicate with our incredible staff, complete pre-check-in to save time before going away, and much, much, more!! For the best interest and comfort for our boarding guests we discourage in-house Tours. We have found that having additional hoomans in our lodging areas is very stressful for those guests that be anxious being away from home, and often our furry friends get excited when they see new faces and think its play time or maybe even time to end their stay. Rest assured we will do everything within our power to get you comfortable with our facility, and answer any questions you may have. We want to get you scheduled as soon as possible because we would love to meet you, your pet, and show you experience our very special accommodations and fun-loving activities we provide at It’s Raining Cats & Dogs Luxury Pet Resort. So, schedule your stay without delay.
Our Staff: Each staff member at It’s Raining Cats & Dogs goes through an extensive 12-hour training process and an additional minimum two-week shadow process before they are entrusted with your furry loved ones. We want to ensure that each pet is given the best care, love, and experience while in our facility. We have various Human personalities that mesh extremely well with the various temperaments and personalities exhibited in the pets we care for. Several of our staff hold degrees in animal care, nursing, and animal CPR. Know that when you leave your pet with us their health and well-being is our top priority.
Entering the Building: Please follow and adhere to these procedures as you enter the facility:
- It is recommended that anyone entering the building who is showing signs or symptoms of illness wear a MASK worn over your mouth and nose to protect our staff from those traveling or whom may have been in contact with. Please respect this as we have more than one staff member that is immunosuppressed.
- When entering and exiting the building, have your dog on a tight leash and Please DO NOT stand within 6’ of the door. Please be especially aware that even though someone may own a dog, they may not like to meet other dogs or be jumped on, so please have control of your dog as you are coming and going.
- If we do not appear up front within 30 seconds, please ring the bell on the counter, located under the “Check-Out” sign. There are times that we get busier than others and we are caring for pets but we do try our best to accommodate all your needs as fast as we can.
- Our registration area can only safely accommodate two customers in at one time with two waiting outside on the porch and the remainder waiting in your car. As guests leave with their pets, please come in.
- Please keep your dog under control and on a short leash while in the building. Please refrain from allowing them to jump on or go around the counter.
- We have a “Check-In” area to the right as you come in. Please bring your dog(s) in and hand them to the staff so they may begin their day in the facility. At that time, you can retrieve their belongings for boarding and place those on the counter to the right. You will then fill out the appropriate paperwork and you can be on your way. If you are dropping your pet off for Doggie Daycare and have business to take care of with the front staff, please let them take your pet back to begin their day and you can take care of any necessary business at the check-in desk at that time.
- We also have a “Check-Out” area to the left of the door. This is where you will come to request your pet at the end of the Doggie daycare day or at the end of your vacation. Any necessary payment can be made, questions about the stay can be answered, additional reservations can be made at this time, additional daycare packages can be purchased, the pets belongings will be brought out to be taken out to the car, and then your pet will be brought out front. This should allow for a seamless exit from the facility.
- As much as we love to get to know you and spend personal time with you, when other clients are in the building or waiting outside, we ask that you limit time in the building while picking up/dropping off to under 2 minutes to be fair to those who may be waiting and so the staff may get back to playing with their furry friends.
Collars & Leashes: It is mandatory that all dogs wear a collar (quick release with a clip not a buckle is preferred) to daycare and for boarding. Dogs tend to use their mouths while playing and anything your dog may be wearing such as a halter, harness, bows on collars, bows in hair, etc. are considered toys to other dogs. At times throughout the day, it is also necessary to need to hold your pet by the collar for their safety or the safety of another pet, a collar is needed for this reason. It’s Raining Cats & Dogs cannot be responsible for any additional items that your dog wears to daycare. At times, and with certain personalities or behaviors, a choke chain or different collar may be requested for your pet during daycare, however, all prong collars will be removed during daycare and boarding.
Intake Form & Waivers: All dogs must have a complete, up-to-date and approved Boarding Intake Form, Guest Waiver of Liability Form and an Authorization for Medical Treatment on file.
Health Requirements: It is our main concern that all dogs at It’s Raining Cats & Dogs are in EXCELLENT health. We want them to arrive healthy and leave healthy. If your dog has diarrhea or is vomiting, or your dog is coughing, sneezing, or has a runny nose or eyes and you are unsure of why they are sick, PLEASE DO NOT bring your dog to daycare. Often dogs can acquire a communicable virus without you knowing it. They can get the virus from blades of grass in your yard, sniffing a furry friend on a walk, sniffing inanimate objects at the pet store, or even swimming in a pond or lake. We want to ensure they are not bringing any diseases to daycare to spread to other dogs. If your dog goes to the vet and they are treated for a communicable condition, the dog will not be permitted to return until a veterinary certificate of good health can be presented.
If your dog has been dropped off for daycare and has diarrhea or displays signs of illness, he/she will be removed from the group and will not be able to socialize with the other dogs until this problem has been resolved, you will be asked to pick up your dog asap. Dogs with excessive diarrhea may be required to have a negative fecal and/or Giardia test before being re-admitted to daycare.
Kennel Cough: Kennel Cough is the equivalent of the common cold for a human. It is a virus and there is no medication to make it go away-just like a cold. Symptoms can include: cough, sometimes harsh bark like, sneezing, runny nose or eyes, sometimes not eating or lethargy. If your pet catches kennel cough most likely they will most likely weather the storm with few symptoms and no need for veterinary care. Those who suffer worse are those that are older with compromised immune systems and young puppies. Medications can help secondary situations that may arise from the cold such as respiratory infections, eye infections, or even pneumonia. Kennel cough is not caught or spread because a facility is unclean-that is a MYTH! It is spread like the human common cold by droplets through the air that may be sniffed in from the air or from an inanimate object. The reason Bordetella got its nick name of Kennel Cough is because there are more dogs than usual in one place so it is more likely to pick it up through the air at a kennel, Doggie Daycare, Rescue, etc. At It’s Raining Cats & Dogs, LLC we have exemplary cleaning habits which limit any air born or more importantly, viruses sitting on inanimate objects like flooring, leashes, bedding, bowls, fencing, walls, counters, doors, etc. We also have an exemplary health record within our facility because of our very strict vaccination requirements. If you have questions or concerns, please talk to Carrie.
It is strongly recommended that your dog receive some form of monthly topical flea treatment plan. If fleas are seen on your dog, a flea treatment bath will be given immediately at the cost of the owner and the pet will need to be picked up directly after the bath. Please inform us if your pet is being treated for active fleas so we can take precautionary measures if necessary.
***All dogs must remain current on their vaccinations! We WILL NOT ALLOW any dog to attend Daycare or Boarding without current vaccinations or current fecal test results on file, so please make sure your pet remains current in case last minute travel plans or daycare needs arise- NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE!! The required vaccinations are as follows:
Rabies-we will accept 1 year or 3 year vaccination
Parvo/Distemper (DHLPP)-we will accept 1 year or 3 year vaccination
Bordetella (Kennel Cough)- Every 6 months-PLEASE NOTE…some vets still use annual Bordetella -WE DO NOT, all pets must have Bordetella vaccines every 6 months-NO EXCEPTIONS!
Negative Fecal Test Results-For new customers or puppies, we require a test to be done within 30 days of their 1st visit-and every 6 months after that. Similar to Bordetella, some vets may do the fecal tests annually, however we require them every 6 months to ensure no parasites are walking in with your pet from infected yards, parks, sidewalks, or dog parks. Please Note: Veterinarians generally list that the test was completed but do not list the negative test results. We need the negative test results. It is your responsibility to get these results. We recommend that you get the fecal test as close to 30 days as possible because if your dog does have a parasite, some parasites require 2 (14 day) treatments before the parasites are gone. Waiting until the last minute may cause you to have to cancel your trip. We would hate for lack of planning on YOUR part to hinder travel plans as we are not able to make exceptions to our policy as it puts other pets at risk.
Even though we have these strict health standards and rules, things can happen and a dog may show some kind of illness or injury while at our facility or after leaving. Please, Please, if your pet goes home and isn’t themselves, we want and need to know! We care about them and as hard as we try, we are not able to be perfect, but we want to do what we can to make sure it does not happen again or to anyone else. We appreciate any information and would welcome your input!
Medication: We are happy to give oral or topical medication to your dog, but require the following: all medications must be in their original container. There are Two forms on our website under the Policies and Forms Page that need to be filled out that include: your dog’s name, the name and strength of the medication, and directions including dosage, number of times per day, how it is to be given, illness to be treated, areas to be treated, etc. It is the Owner’s responsibility to complete these 2 forms for each stay that medications are needed for. These forms can be found on the forms page at www.itsrainingcatsdogs.com Any dog with special needs may incur additional charges. We administer oral medication free of charge to dogs willing to take the medication without issue. There is a $2.00 fee per injection for insulin administration. We offer cheese or peanut butter when needed, fees may apply. We reserve the right to charge for medication administration to difficult or scared pets.
Vet On-Call 24/7: It’s Raining Cats & Dogs and our guests have access to veterinarian services 24 hours a day. We have relationships with local veterinarians and are only a short drive to the emergency VCA Aurora Animal Hospital that is open 24 hours. We also have safety surveillance cameras to oversee the comfort and security of the pets overnight.
Phone and Email Procedures: We do not have staff attending to texts, emails, and phone calls after operating hours. Phone calls regarding daycare, boarding, or anything that may be business related will only be answered during our normal business hours. If you have a reservation or want us to know something about an upcoming visit, feel free to text or leave a message and we will get back to you during our next business day. Our preferred method of communication is by texting our additional phone line 630-715-9231, we can communicate much easier, much faster, and so much more completely with a written record of transaction by text than any other mode of communication. Reservations can no longer be made by text, email, or Facebook. To ensure all information is correct and your reservation is secure, we will do all reservations over the phone-please have your Master Card or Visa ready for the deposit info. If you happen to have one of our staff members personal phone numbers, please refrain from utilizing those numbers. You may still use the 630-715-9230 but incoming calls keep that phone very busy so the additional line may be of better use for you. If you have sent a request for photos of your pet, those photos will be taken during the mid-morning or midday play time and sent during the last part of the afternoon prior to dinner time.
Reservations & Cancellation Policy: Reservations with a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) are required for all overnight boarding stays. For regular boarding stays, a non-refundable $50.00 credit card deposit is required to hold a reservation, and will be applied to any boarding charges incurred. Therefore, once your pet arrives for their stay, you will be charged for the complete reservation whether you return early or utilize the reservation in its entirety. Changing days prior to the arrival date is acceptable if it is prior to the 72-hour cancellation time frame or your vacation is longer than 72 hours (Seven days for Peak Periods). Cancellations must be made 72 hours (Seven days for Peak Periods) in advance or the amount of your pet’s stay will be charged to the credit card on file. We try to accommodate as much as possible within reason. We can give you a good idea of what your stay may cost prior to departure but total costs are calculated at the time of pick up and may include incidentals such as nail trims, treat add-ons, etc. A credit card or blank check can be held on file but will not be charged up front until the pet checks out as to include any incidentals. Credit cards on file, credit card pre-authorizations, or additional deposits may also be requested for lengthy stays. While making a reservation, please schedule your pet’s stay carefully. We are a small facility so we do fill up quickly and often turn people away when our lodging options are spoken for. Please make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date for your pets stay, out of date vaccinations or positive fecal results are not valid reasons for cancellations of reservations. Unfortunately, family illness, weather conditions, and last-minute changes in travel plans are not valid reasons for cancellations of reservations as well. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
What to Bring/Not Bring: For daycare: please bring a leash, a quick-release collar, and any food or treats that you would like your pooch to be fed throughout the day. All prong collars will be removed prior to entering daycare or boarding. Regular collars may also be removed with certain playgroups when the collars become weapons or chew toys. For overnight boarding: please bring all food, treats, medication, and toys necessary for your entire pet’s stay. Please do not bring a bed or bowls as we supply them. The ONLY bowls we allow are the maze bowls for fast eaters to slow them down or elevated feeders to aid in digestion. If you have a small dog that sleeps in a crate and would feel more comfortable with them sleeping in their crate INSIDE their suite-we can accommodate that request as well, but no bedding for the crate. It’s Raining Cats & Dogs, LLC is not responsible for the return of any belongings (ie; toys, treats, food bins, collars, leashes, bones, crates) in its original conditional, or at all.
Feeding: If your dog will be fed during their time here, we request that you bring their regular food to avoid causing possible digestive issues (diarrhea, vomiting, digestive upset, etc.). We ask that your dog’s food be divided into separate meals and be labeled with your Dog’s name and any special feeding instructions (feeding time, adding water, elevating food, etc.). If you forget to bring your dog’s food or if you do not bring enough for their stay, we will gladly provide our premium house food for $8.00 per meal (please note that changing your dog’s regular food will most likely result in diarrhea). Also, we may provide our guests with small treats throughout the day – please let us know if your dog has allergies or if you do not want your dog to have any treats. What we DO ask about feeding is this…Please remember that just like you, new environments can be stressful and so can foods that they are not use to. Do not give them treats or food that they usually do not get at home while they are boarding or at daycare because you think it might be a “Treat” or “Fun” for them. This adds to the stress on their digestive system and can cause digestive irritation and in turn vomiting or diarrhea. We want them feeling their best while here and enjoying their stay, so keeping to as normal of a diet as possible is best.
Nail Trims & Baths: While we will make every effort to trim your dog’s nails and/or bathe your dog at your request, the health, safety and well-being of your dog is our first priority. Some dogs become anxious and overly agitated during nail trims & baths, and we will not perform these services if we feel that the dog’s health and/or our staff’s safety may be jeopardized. We may not be able to accommodate same day nail trim or boarding requests. If you would like this service during your pets boarding stay or Doggie Daycare visit, please call or text ahead of time and we will do our best to accommodate the request-please remember that we do not always have a groomer or appropriate staff on site that can do these services so reaching out ahead of time allows for much better scheduling. Boarding guests that are utilizing our Luxury Lodging option for 10 days or more will receive a FREE departure bath. Guests that are getting The Royal Treatment and stay for 7 days or more will receive a FREE departure bath. Please note-departure baths do not include nail trimming or ear cleaning but we are happy to add these services for an additional fee. A departure bath is NOT included FREE for badly matted dogs, bath aggressive dogs, giant breed, or breeds that require extra hair maintenance-we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. If you know ahead of time that you would like a bath for your pet at the end of their stay, please let us know when you make the reservation-during peak times we may not be able to accommodate baths for short stays. Currently our Groomer is scheduled Mondays, Thursdays, & Saturdays.
Behavioral Traits: All dogs must be non-aggressive and non-food or toy protective. It’s Raining Cats & Dogs relies on owners to verify their dogs have not harmed or shown any aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dogs. A Free Temperament test will need to be performed for ALL dogs wanting to join Doggie Daycare or Boarding if your pet will be in contact with other dogs. Please schedule this with our front desk staff. Remember that your pet will be spending time with other pets and the safety and health of the entire group is our main concern. To maintain a safe play environment for the dogs, any dog that misbehaves will be given a time-out from the daycare area. Because excessive barking can escalate the intensity of the pack dynamic and create an extremely chaotic environment for the dogs, we reserve the right to use a water spray bottle or other training aides as we feel necessary. If your dog is displaying aggressive behavior, or is misbehaving while at daycare, we will notify you and give a conduct report at pick-up to ensure you are aware of your dog’s daily activity while in our care. Any negative or aggressive behavior that continues may lead to your pet being removed from playtime, or boarding services without notice.
Unaltered Dogs: Certain behavioral traits that some dogs exhibit can cause issues with their playmates within the facility. As a result, ALL dogs over the age of 9 months participating in doggie daycare MUST be spayed or neutered. Any dog unaltered is permitted for overnight boarding, but will not be allowed to participate in group play. A unaltered dog younger than 9 months of age, but exhibiting unfavorable behavior may need to be removed from play and not allowed back until altered.
Risks: It is important that owners understand that their pets will be participating in supervised, off-leash socialization and interaction between other guests. Owners also acknowledge that dogs are unpredictable in behavior and the owners are aware of the risks involved in such play and assume all risks. There are times throughout the day during daycare that your dog may need to be put in a suite or crate for various reasons-feeding, time-out, playtime rotation, behavioral issues, decompression time, or just plain tired dog syndrome.
Billing/Packages/Pricing: Boarding Rates are calculated like a hotel. You are charged for the day that you check your pet in regardless of the time you arrive. Check out time is 10:00am. After 10:00am you are charged for another day. Please understand that our day begins before 6:30am and your pet is played with, toileted several times, fed, loved, included in doggie daycare, and their suite has been cleaned.
Our billing system will not let the daycare package program go into the negative status. You can keep a credit card on file for expenditures such as package renewals, nail trims, baths, etc. If you would like to have your card on file, please let our management staff know, when a payment is to be charged to your card the staff will text you the date and amount. If there is not a card on file and your package is used, we will need to charge full price for the daycare day that is used until the package is caught up. You are also able to pay for packages, daycare days, boarding etc. in your Gingr client portal. We are unable to charge the difference of what a half day or full day would be as the packages are considerably discounted already. We reserve the right to increase pricing for giant breed or special needs pets that may need additional time or care while participating in daycare or boarding. We reserve the right to increase our Boarding or Daycare pricing at any time.
